First Test Match-Eden Gardens, Kolkata
After a very poor batting display by the Indian batsman in their very first day of the first match, the world was left in doubts, if India has really lost its potential or else if it was the fact that India was so poor with the green tracks that it wasn’t even able to play teams like Srilanka.
But, the men in blue proved it wrong in their second innings, as the openers reach the fifties and the captain reaches his century in style. However the Indian team had only managed to draw the first test, it was clearly very dominating off-against the Sri Lankans, as the Srilankans had hardly managed to safeguard a very few wicket by wasting their time.
Second Test-Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur
India won by an innings and 239 runs
India made a terrific comeback in the second test match that was played in Nagpur as they beat the Lankans by an innings and a run margin of 239 runs.
Though India’s regular opener Shikar Dhawan and Regular test bowlers Bhuvneshwar and Shami were not in the playing XI due to some reasons, Indians still didn’t show any sign of missing them. India played with Ishant and Umesh who were making a comeback and especially Murli Vijay who had been into the team after the wrist injury and still managed to crack century in his very first match.
Afte a poor batting display by the India in their first Test match in a green track, four batsmen in the XI notched up their centuries with skipper entertaining the crowd with his brilliant double hundred.
Murli Vijay 128
Cheteshwar Pujara 143
Virat Kohli 213
Rohit Sharma 102
Ishant Sharma who was making a comeback into the team picked up three wickets in the first innings and Ashwin who was out of the teams for ODI and T20 games picked four wickets in the second innings of the game taking India to a 1-0 lead in the 3 tests that are to be played.
With the kind of the performances that Indians have shown with their red-hot form in the recent times with the bat and ball are too strong for the Sri Lankans to handle, which has slipped in the ranking and seems to be very poor.
The skipper and the Team Management are definitely in trouble after the century by Murli Vijay in the second test and the way Ishant bowled puts them into troublesome in making the selection.
The ODI and the T-20 to be played
If you hate Test matches and are waiting for the ODI matches to be played, there can be only two reasons. You either are impatient to see slow innings or else you are a die-hard fan of Mahendra Singh Dhoni and you are waiting to see him in action.
