Toronto International Film Festival Kicks Off On September 7

The Toronto International Film Festival, T.I.F.F, began on the seventh of September and is scheduled to go on until the eighteenth. On the first day of the festival, celebrities and actors from all over the world poured in to witness the grand celebration of cinema.

Priyanka Chopra happened to be one of the many actors at the event and was there to attend the screening of Pahuna: The Little Visitor, a Sikkimese film produced by the actress and her mother.

Importance of The Festival

While the fall film festival displays as many 85 movies per season, there are always a few movies that stand out. It’s in this particular festival, that one can find movies from all over the world, movies that will eventually become masterpieces of cinematography.

This is also the movie festival, that eventually will generate Oscar buzz.

5 Movies to Look Forward at Toronto International Film Festival

1. Beats Per Minute

The movie focuses on the AIDS epidemic of the 1990’s and the fight of the LGBT community against it. Set in Paris, it tells the story of two young men, who fall in love while working for ACT UP, an LGBT organization.

2. Dark River

This British movie follows the life of a young woman, who returns to her hometown after 15 years when her father passes away to take over his farm. The story follows her turbulence with her brother about the workings of the farm.

3. Eric Clapton: Life In 12 Bars

This movie is set about the one of the greatest guitarists of all times, Eric Clapton, in the words of the people who knew him best.

4. The Florida Project

This American Drama is set in Florida in one of the many motels that house in the city. It follows the life of Moone, a 6-year-old girl, who, along with her mother, Hailey, moves into a motel filled with over-extended families.

5. Gaga: Five Foot Two

The movie follows the American pop star, and one of the most fearless musicians of her times, Lady Gaga. It follows the story behind her fifth studio album, Joanne, and provides an unfiltered-behind the scenes look at the pop star.
