Om Puri passed away
On the Friday morning a veteran actor Om Puri has passed away, he was found dead at his Mumbai house. He was 66. As confirmed by his friends from the film fraternity the actor succumbed to a major heart attack.
As per his driver Puri returned home on Thursday evening after a shoot. He also said that on Friday morning he rang the doorbell of his Oakland Park residence at lokhandwala but it went unanswered, following which he raised an alarm.
In his extremely amazing acting career spanning over four decades he won two National awards and two Filmfare Awards including a Lifetime Achievement Award. Looking back to his career in december 2016, He tweeted “I have no regrets at all. I have done quite well for myself. I didn’t have a conventional face, but I have done well, and I am proud of it.”

Om Puri was a product of Film and Television Institute of India, Pune and at the National School of Drama, where Naseeruddin Shah was his classmate. Born on October 18, 1950, hailing from Ambala in Haryana. He had made his film debut in 1976 with the Marathi film Ghashiram Kotwal. Om Puri was known for his acting in films like Aakrosh, Ardh Satya, Jane Bhi Do Yaaron, Mirch Masala and Dharavi, Bhavni Bhavai. He won the National award for best actor fir Aarohan in the year 1982. The acclaimed actor also delivered some stellar performances in mainstream theatre too commercial Pakistani, Indian and British cinema. Apart from making a dent in Hollywood with his roles in ‘east is East’, ‘City of Joy’, ‘Gandhi’ and ‘The Reluctant Fundamentalist’.
He was a great actor and a great human too . The entire film fraternity got down at his residence to pay condolences to his family and to be present for his last rites.
